Dental implants are one of the best ways to restore a missing tooth and they are the closest thing that dentistry can offer a patient to their natural teeth. The process of getting a dental implant happens in two stages. The first stage is implanting a titanium “root” into the jaw. After several months this root will fuse with the bone and become firmly implanted. Once this occurs, the patient is ready for the second stage of the process which is the dental implant restoration during which the root is capped with a crown or artificial tooth.
Whether you have missing teeth or have teeth that require, removal dental implant restoration is a great way to restore your smile and regain your confidence. This treatment option has become very popular in recent years because not only do dental implants look and feel like your natural teeth, but they are also cared for in exactly the same way – with regular brushing and flossing! Unlike other options such as partials and dentures, there are no clips, no adhesives, and no special cleaning solutions to worry about.
What is involved in getting dental implant restoration?
If you are interested in getting dental implant restoration, your first step should be to contact Sapphire Dental for an appointment. One of our dentists will conduct an examination of your mouth in order to determine whether you are a good candidate.
If your mouth is healthy enough for the procedure, an appointment will be scheduled for you have the implant (the titanium root) placed.
Once the root is placed, your mouth will need time to heal and for the bone to fuse around it. The artificial root has tiny pores in it and as the bone in your jaw grows, it will go into these pores, making the implant extremely secure. Usually it takes between 3 and 6 months for this to happen.
The final step is to come back to our office to have the implant fitted with a dental crown that has been custom made to be the exact shape and colour to fit in with the rest of your teeth. The crown is secured to the implant and you will leave our office with a beautiful new smile!
